We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the personal data that we collect and process about you. The measures we use are designed to provide a level of security appropriate to the risk of processing your personal data.
7. International data transfers
Lockyers is a UK business. We use carefully selected service providers to run our business, including Google (Google Workspace for email and documents, and Google Cloud for this website). This means your personal data may be processed outside the UK, including in the European Economic Area ('EEA') and the United States.
We transfer personal data outside the UK only where UK data protection law allows it, using one of the following:
UK adequacy regulations: transfers to countries the UK recognises as providing adequate protection (including the EEA), and to US organisations certified under the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework ('DPF'), which you can check on the DPF List;
appropriate safeguards under Article 46 of the UK GDPR, such as the ICO's International Data Transfer Agreement ('IDTA') or the International Data Transfer Addendum to the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses ('UK Addendum'), for recipients not covered by adequacy regulations; or
a specific exception under Article 49 of the UK GDPR, where one applies.
Google LLC is certified under the DPF, including the UK Extension. Google's data processing terms also include standard contractual clauses for transfers the DPF does not cover.
Where we rely on the UK Extension to send special category data or criminal offence data to the United States, we identify that data to the recipient as sensitive, as the UK Extension requires.
You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards we rely on by emailing paul.lockyer@lockyersonline.co.uk. We may redact commercially sensitive information.
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect any such personal data we may process. The measures we take will be appropriate to the risk, taking into account the nature, scope, context and purposes of our processing and the potential risks to the rights and freedoms of natural persons.
8. Data retention
We will not keep your personal data for longer than we need it for the purpose for which it is used.
We retain personal data we collect from you where we have an ongoing legitimate business need to do so. When we have no ongoing legitimate business need or legal reason to process your personal data, we will either delete or anonymise it or, if this is not possible, we will securely store your personal data and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

To opt out of other forms of marketing (such as postal marketing or telemarketing), please contact us. If you choose to opt out of marketing communications, we may still send you non-promotional emails, such as emails about our ongoing business
Similarly, if we have collected and process your personal data with your consent, then you can withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing your consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing we conducted prior to your withdrawal, nor will it affect processing of your personal data conducted in reliance of lawful processing grounds other than consent.
